Definition:
Manslaughter occurs when a person recklessly
causes the death of another, or acting under extreme emotional disturbance,
causes the death of another, or acting under circumstances when a person reasonably
believes the circumstances provide a legal justification or excuse for his
conduct constitutes manslaughter. There are three types of
manslaughter; the first type is voluntary manslaughter which is described
as intentional killing without a premeditation to kill. The second type is
involuntary manslaughter which refers to an unintentional
killing resulting from criminal negligence or recklessness. Lastly, there
is vehicular manslaughter and that occurs when an individual
takes the life another while operating a vehicle such as a car, motorcycle
or boat.
